Photos from my trip on the Pacific Crest Trail. I walked from highway 108, near sonora pass, to Tuolomne Meadows in Yosemite, about 70 miles.
I did it in 5 1/2 days. It was my first solo backpacking trip.

Drop off point at leavitt lake, a few miles down the road and up a jeep trail from sonora pass.

The water was very cold, all made from melted snow. From here I took a trail up over the little
pass in the top left of the picture, to meet the PCT.

Harvey and Dan were kind enough to drop me off. Harvey is the dog.

The first trail marker I found! I loved seeing trail markers. In Yosemite they had mile markers too, which was even better.

I ate my first dinner overlooking this canyon. I liked camping in cozy spots
low among the trees. I always had to make sure and check for
standing dead trees that might fall and crush me in the middle of the night.

Camp 2: Bug Central. I had to wear this while breaking camp to save me from the clouds of mosquitos.

My bug coffin/bivy.

A cold and refreshing stream crossing the trail about halfway up a steep switchback climb.

Did I mention I made my own backpack?
This is at Lake Benson, which has a soft sand beach.

Some of my stuff! I was usually way too tired at the end of the day to read the book I brought along.

The view from my tent at my most scenic campsite.
Lake Smedburg is highly underrated.

I lost two toenails. Can you guess which ones are about to go?

I have no idea where I took this picture.

The trail was seldom hard to find. This was taken on the last day, on my long walk down to glen aulin high sierra camp and then tuolomne meadows.
Although very scenic, the last 6 miles were jam packed with folks. This was very strange after 6 days of near-solitude.
